Darko Horvat

Founder of THFAO, Darko Horvat, is an entrepreneur with over three decades of global business and investment experience.

After graduating with a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana and an MBA from Clemson University, Darko Horvat embarked on an extraordinary career that quickly established him as a pivotal figure in the global business and entrepreneurial landscape.

Through the early 1990s, Darko’s endeavours included founding new businesses in his native Slovenia and forging strategic joint ventures with financial institutions and international corporations. 

His visionary approach extends beyond financial success with a strong emphasis on human capital development through partnerships fostering innovation, education and entrepreneurship. In 1994, Darko established a joint venture with 13 American universities which led to the successful graduation of more than 100 Slovenians from their MBA-programmes.

From 1995 onwards, Darko's global expansion showcased his strategic expertise in cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Currently, his proactive investment strategy focuses on high-tech, Industry 4.0, and special situations across Europe, the USA, and the Middle East.

Darko holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Haifa, a Young Global Leader Award from WEF Davos and has been inducted into the BSC Hall of Fame for excellence in strategic performance management.

His financial and leadership expertise is flanked by a steadfast commitment to philanthropic causes through the Horvat Family Foundation, through which he hopes to help shape the future of business, industries and communities worldwide.
